About Thomas
Conservative Statesman: A Lifelong Commitment to California Politics
Thomas Miller McClintock II has been a steadfast conservative voice in California politics, serving the state's citizens through multiple levels of government with dedication and principle. Born on July 10, 1956, McClintock developed a deep passion for public service early in his political career, becoming a California state assemblyman at the remarkably young age of 26.
McClintock's political journey began in the California State Assembly, where he first served from 1982 to 1992, and then again from 1996 to 2000. During these periods, he established himself as a principled conservative committed to fiscal responsibility and limited government. His legislative experience expanded when he was elected to the California State Senate in 2000, a position he held until 2008, further developing his understanding of state-level governance and policy formation.
Despite facing challenges in statewide elections, including unsuccessful runs for governor in the 2003 recall election and for Lieutenant Governor in 2006, McClintock remained undeterred in his political aspirations. In 2009, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing California's 5th congressional district (previously the 4th district until 2023). His district, which stretches from Sacramento's suburbs to Fresno's outer suburbs and includes the iconic Yosemite National Park, allows him to represent a diverse and significant portion of California's heartland.
As a Republican representative, McClintock has consistently championed conservative principles, focusing on issues such as fiscal discipline, constitutional governance, and preserving individual liberties. His extensive experience in state legislature provides him a unique perspective in crafting national policy, making him a respected voice within the Republican Party. He has been an active participant in congressional committees, working to advance conservative policy objectives and represent the interests of his constituents.
Throughout his long and distinguished career in public service, Thomas McClintock has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to conservative values and effective governance. From the California State Assembly to the U.S. House of Representatives, he has remained a principled leader dedicated to serving the people of California with integrity, economic sensibility, and a deep respect for constitutional traditions.
