Former FBI Agent and National Security Leader: Mike Rogers' Mission to Win Michigan
Michael J. Rogers is a former U.S. Representative, FBI special agent, and national security leader running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. Born on June 2, 1963, in Livingston County, Michigan, Rogers has built a distinguished career spanning law enforcement, intelligence, and public service.
A graduate of Adrian College, Rogers began his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army before joining the FBI as a special agent, where he investigated public corruption cases. His law enforcement background gave him a deep understanding of national security threats that would define his congressional career.
Rogers served Michigan's 8th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2015. During his tenure, he chaired the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence from 2011 to 2015, overseeing classified intelligence operations and playing a critical role in national security policy. He earned bipartisan respect for his expertise in cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and intelligence oversight.
After leaving Congress, Rogers became a prominent national security commentator and policy advisor. He was the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in Michigan in 2024, narrowly losing to Democrat Elissa Slotkin. Now running again in 2026, Rogers is the GOP frontrunner in one of the most competitive Senate races in the country, bringing his deep national security credentials and Michigan roots to the fight for the Senate majority.
